Hypnotherapy is a really powerful technique to help people create positive new habits. It can be applied to most situations, so is very adaptable, and because it is working directly with the subconscious, it is very effective at changing behaviours.
Before the hypnotherapy session
Critical to an effective session is making sure the client is comfortable, so I build a strong rapport with any client before I work them. I do this by meeting them online or face to face for an initial consultation, to understand their aims and what they would like to achieve through hypnotherapy.
What the session is like
I make sure the session is as comfortable and relaxed as possible. Clients need to feel safe and secure while they are in trance. While they are totally conscious and aware of what’s happening around them, being in trance is like a deep state of relaxation and people can feel vulnerable. I need them to focus on what I am saying, rather than on anything else in the room, or any sense of discomfort they may feel. Clients can either choose to remain seated, or lie on a therapy bed or couch – I would recommend lying down, so that your neck is supported.
How hypnotherapy works
Hypnotherapy works by relaxing the conscious mind (our rational or thinking mind), so that we can more easily access the subconscious mind. All of our behaviours and habits reside here, so by speaking to them directly, we can upgrade the thinking that is currently driving the habits you want to replace. I record the session and encourage the client to listen to this recording over and over (not when they are driving though!), so that the ideas begin to form part of the subconscious and then create the new ideas that drive our behaviours.
Situations I can help with
I really love the transformations that people experience through hypnotherapy, and I particularly love helping clients with issues of confidence, performance and taking action towards their goals. These are really positive outcomes that can make a huge difference in people’s lives. You can book an initial hypnotherapy consultation here.
No – I’ve never turned anyone into a chicken and I’ve never learnt how to do this.
